Training for servers of alcohol and persons staffing I.D. check stations and
wristband booths will be held in the council chambers at
The legal age for drinking is 21 years old!
It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that minors do not
have access to the alcohol.
Serving minors is a crime that can affect you!
ALCOHOL PROCEDURES:
WRISTBAND BOOTH:
The first step in obtaining alcohol starts at the Wristband
Booth;
The responsibilities of the Wristband Booth Crews are to:
§ Check and inspect everyone’s GOVERNMENT ISSUED identification;
§ Acceptable forms of identification include a driver’s license, military ID, passport, etc.
§ STUDENT ID IS NOT A VALID FORM OF IDENTIFICATION!
§ No ID means no wristband – regardless of age!
§ Must be born on or before this date in 1990;
§ Make sure the ID does not have splits, breaks;
§ Ensure it has a picture!
§ Do not accept an ID in a plastic envelope or wallet – Have the people hand the ID directly to you.
§ When in doubt, call Nancy, Steve, or Tom!
§ If the ID is acceptable, collect $1 and issue a wristband;
TICKET BOOTH:
§ Once they have a wristband, they go to the Ticket Booth to buy tickets;
§ It is the responsibility of the Ticket Booth Crews to ensure that everyone buying tickets has a wristband!
§ If someone APPEARS to be underage, ask to see their ID again. It is a CRIME to sell or serve alcohol to minors.
BEER TENTS:
§ Once they have their wristbands and tickets, they proceed to the Beer Tents;
§ It is the responsibility of the Beer Booth Crews to ensure that everyone handing in their beer tickets is wearing a wristband;
§ If someone APPEARS to be underage, ask to see their ID again.
§ It is a CRIME to sell or serve alcohol to minors.
§ It is also a CRIME to sell or serve alcohol to visibly intoxicated persons!
An intoxicated person walks, talks and acts drunk! Signs include staggering, blurring, blood-shot eyes, etc.
§ If someone is intoxicated, stop serving them!
§ This is also applicable to people working in the Wristband and Ticket Booths.
§ Intoxicated? No wristband, no ticket, no alcohol!
§ The procedures are everyone’s responsibility!
§
The Law needs to be followed – NO
ONE UNDER 21 WILL BE SERVED!
The Law says:
“A person who knowingly sells or furnishes alcohol liquor to a person who is less than 21 years of age or who fails to do a diligent inquiry as to whether the person is less than 21 years of age, is guilty of a misdemeanor.”
GENERAL INFORMATION:
What happens if you see someone without a wristband but drinking
alcohol?
§ Have the Beer Crew Leader contact Nancy, Tom, or Steve and ask them to come to your location.
§ DO NOT ANNOUNCE OVER THE WALKIE-TALKIE THAT SOMEONE WITHOUT A WRISTBAND IS DRINKING!
§ DO NOT TAKE MATTERS IN YOUR OWN HANDS AND APPROACH THE PERSON!
§ At any time, if there is a disturbance, please advise a police officer, a festival official (Nancy, Tom, or Steve).
§ DO NOT GET INVOLVED!
§ Only the Police Department will approach such persons!
The Liquor Control Commission can, has and will send decoys;
The Commission usually uses teenagers as decoys who present their
real ID (but are under 21) or claim they do not have an ID.
That is why EVERYONE MUST CHECK THE DAY, MONTH, YEAR, AND PICTURE ON THE
ID!
IF THE DATE IS AFTER AUGUST 4, 5, 6 or 7, 1990, THERE IS NO
IF THE PERSON DOES NOT HAVE AN ID, THERE IS NO WRISTBAND ISSUED
– REGARDLESS OF AGE AND/OR APPEARANCE! (Call Nancy, Tom, or Steve for
assistance.)
Ticket prices are $3.00 per ticket; Wristbands are $1.00;
The Ticket Booth Crews will have “cheat sheets” to help them
calculate ticket sales;
If change is needed contact Nancy, Tom, or Steve to come by the
booth; DO NOT ANNOUNCE ON THE RADIO THAT CHANGE IS NEEDED;
LIMIT USAGE OF THE RADIO!
CLOSING:
At the end of the evening, it is very important to follow the
closing procedures as it is a matter of safety for booth crew members!
The Wristband and Ticket Booth crews will remain in their
respective booths until Nancy, Tom, and/or Steve comes by to collect the
tickets, wristbands, and money;
Remember: There is
safety in numbers! Have everyone
from your crew stay until the booth is closed!
Once the tickets, wristbands and money have been collected, Nancy,
Tom, and/or Steve will turn off the lights in the booths, approximately 15
minutes before closing;
For SAFETY reasons, no one else is allowed to turn off the lights
in the Ticket and Wristband Booths!
Because there are two booth sites to close, you may have to wait a
few minutes past the closing time.
Once the Wristband and Ticket Booths are closed, the Beer Booth
will then be closed.
Only Nancy, Tom, or Steve has the authority to close the Beer
Booth.
Again, because of the two sites, you may have to wait a few
minutes past the closing time.
Your patience is appreciated!
